James E. Decker, President of James E. Decker Construction Company and Kendall Construction, has been a licensed active general contractor for over twenty-five years. During his building career, he has completed over two hundred million dollars of construction on projects ranging from retail and office build outs to full service convention hotels and has been an active member of the American Arbitration Association where he has served as a mediator to resolve construction disputes between owner’s and contractors.
Jim’s two largest projects have been a 150,000 square foot commissary located at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida and the Sheraton Hotel Lakeland, a seven story, 167 room convention hotel with a three story covered parking garage.
Jim is no stranger to the design/build process and challenges faced by developers, having completed construction on over 2500 hotel rooms using the design/build approach with his clients and has personally overseen the development of two major hotels including the former Sheraton Hotel Lakeland, which Jim owned and operated for eighteen years.
Jim’s professional interest have also extended into the hotel industry where as a Sheraton Hotel owner, he chaired the Four Points Hotel Marketing Board, held a board seat on the International Franchise Council, and served as V. President of the Association of Sheraton Franchise Owners North America.
On a community level, Jim has had the privilege to hold a seat on the Polk County Tourist Development Council, serve as President of the Lakeland Innkeepers Association and the Polk County Innkeepers. Jim has been a member of the Downtown Lakeland Rotary Club and is an active member of the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce and the Polk County Economic Development Council.
Jim is married and has five children.
Jack Overcash is an estimator/project manager with a background in consulting engineering and plumbing/mechanical design, with a combined 39 years experience in the design and construction industry. jack has completed over 200 construction projects from residential to heavy commercial.
Jack possesses an in depth knowledge of pre-engineered metal buildings, heavy structural steel systems, large concrete projects and site preparation. His projects have included large tilt up projects, schools, apartment complexes, airport hangars, assisted living facilities, medical facilities and tenant build out with cost ranging from $100,000 to $10,000,000.
Jack is married and has two children.
